Tough. Construction

In chemical tanks this means resistance to deterioration from chemical exposure. These rugged, compact ultrasonic level sensors measure a wide variety of liquids from diesel fuel in rail locomotives to chemical tanks in the paper and food processing industries (not suited for high temperature CIP operations). Heavy duty electronics are epoxy potted into a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) housing that physically isolates the transducer and electronics from the chemicals and can withstand exposure to both acids and bases. They are used both indoors and out, and in some of the harshest factory environments. They of course also are used in liquid level applications where chemical resistance is not required.

Smart. Communications

All CHEM sensors include serial Data Communications to connect with SenixVIEW software or other equipment.

Models come with either an RS-232 or RS-485 interface, with the following communications format:

  • Selectable Modbus (default) or ASCII streaming protocols
  • Baud rates from 9600 (default) to 115200 bps
  • This and more, adjustable using SenixVIEW software

We recommend the RS-485 Serial Data Interface unless connecting to an RS-232 device. The benefits of RS-485 over RS-232 include:

  • Multi-drop Modbus addressing permits networks of up to 32 sensors
  • Better noise immunity in industrial environments
  • Allows longer cable lengths at higher baud rates
  • Bottom line: more capability at the same cost

If you only need a Serial Data interface all models are available without the analog and switch outputs at reduced cost and power consumption, and use a 4-wire (plus drain) cable instead of the standard 9-wire cable.

Multiple Outputs

  • Analog voltage (0-10 VDC) typically used with motor drives and similar equipment
  • Two analog 4-20 mA current loops (sourcing & sinking) for process industry transmitter applications
  • Two Switches: Each configurable as Sinking (NPN) or Sourcing (PNP)

Ultimate Flexibility

All sensor outputs are SenixVIEW configurable by the user.

  • Analogs can be calibrated between any two distances, adjustable analog limits, positive or negative slope, and no-target time delay
  • Switches have both hysteresis and window modes, time delays (on, off & no target)
  • All analogs and switches all have response settings for power-on initialization, loss of target echo (delay and state)

Local Connection

Any connection you need…

  • to PLCs, motor drives, displays, PCs – you name it!
  • Universal: one sensor = many applications

To LAN or Cloud

Send liquid levels wirelessly and view them on a LAN or in the cloud using our new AirWire LoRa transmitter:

  • From in-plant or outdoors up to miles away
  • Low energy, battery powered transmitter
  • Tank levels or outdoor bodies of water
  • Receive high & low level alerts
  • No subscription service charges
  • For low data rate applications
  • No conduit or power required

For more information see Wireless Level Monitoring.

Connected. SenixVIEW Software

SenixVIEW is included at no charge, runs on a Windows PC and connects to sensors via a serial data port. Our Setup Kits provide everything needed to connect through a USB port, including power supply, sensor-PC interface and cables. SenixVIEW is not required but adds powerful configuration, test and management capability.

  • View sensor measurements graphically in several different ways
  • Over 60 user-adjustable parameters
  • Built-in data logging, graphing, exporting and statistics facilities
  • Save & retrieve setups for maintenance and sensor cloning

Sensor Adjustments Give You More Control

  • Analogs: Slope, distance endpoints, analog value limits
  • Switches: Setpoints, hysteresis /window features, time delays
  • All Outputs: Power-on, loss of echo, loss of SYNC responses
  • Serial Data: Communications and SYNC modes and functions
  • Measurements: Temperature compensation, sensitivity, data filters, measure rate, gain settings and data processing filters
  • Adjustments: Stored in sensor memory even when power is off
