Conveyor Discriminating
Sensors detect outliers or errors: for example, boxes that are too large or too small on a moving conveyor.
Need non-contact, unintrusive, long-distance proximity detection in a factory, processing, or even commercial retail setting? Senix ToughSonic® ultrasonic proximity sensors reliably detect objects or materials through the air, and are easy to install and program.
Most materials and objects can be detected: hard or soft, any color or transparency, and flat or curved. ToughSonics are unaffected by optical characteristics and remain accurate through ambient light, shine, and reflectivity.
Unlike traditional proximity sensors, ultrasonics operate over longer distances and can be set up to limit object detection within a user-specified distance band—or "window.”
Object detection is a form of proximity sensing to determine if an object is present (arrives) or is absent (disappears).
Installing proximity sensors—such as ultrasonic transmitters—enables efficient, effective automation. ToughSonic® ultrasonic sensors eliminate the need for manual monitoring and tedious labor at the work station.
Ultrasonic wave technology is ideal for object detection. The ultrasonic sensor sends a sound wave signal toward the object being measured. The wave is reflected back to the sensor, which translates the time of flight into a distance measurement—and thus, can detect if an object is present or absent within its measurement "window."
ToughSonic sensors are easily adjusted using SensorView™ configuration software. Program over 80 parameters to best meet your object detection application.
More industries utilize object detection technology than you might think. ToughSonic® sensors play a role in proximity sensing systems worldwide.
Conveyor Discriminating
Sensors detect outliers or errors: for example, boxes that are too large or too small on a moving conveyor.
Proximity Warnings
Triggering an alarm or light when thresholds are crossed in loading bays or mass transit applications.
People or Vehicle Detection
Detecting a person in front of a kiosk or vehicle in a drive-thru, lighting a screen or alerting staff.
Web Breaks in Printing
Continuously verifying a roll has not torn or broken during cold foil, paper, or film printing processes.
Snow Level Measurement
Verifying snow height in both remote areas & populated municipalities; alerting local responders at critical levels.
ToughSonic ultrasonic proximity sensors integrate with common automation equipment and controls to provide precise object detection.
Using ultrasonic sound waves, they reliably detect the presence or absence of objects regardless of color, transparency, or lighting conditions—ensuring consistent performance in demanding environments.
SensorView™ sensor configuration and testing software enables further customization of each ToughSonic sensor to best fit your industry and target object/bulk material.
Senix transmitters can be configured by the user to restrict object detection to a range of distances.
They can also be set up to establish a single maximum range of detection WITHIN the sensor's total range.
This allows the sensor to ignore objects that are permanently or intermittently within range that may affect accurate readings of the chosen subject—i.e: a conveyor line.
Up to 32 Senix sensors can be connected in applications that require multiple ultrasonic sensors to detect objects simultaneously.
ToughSonic sensor SYNC is typically used for data networking, synchronization of measurements, and to prevent cross-talk when sensors are used in close proximity.
After initial setup and configuration using SensorView software, ToughSonic sensors can be programmed remotely.
Access and adjust over 80 parameters: including operating range, measurement rates, sensor sensitivity, outputs, filters, condition responses, and more.
Settings are stored in each sensor's non-volatile memory when powered off, allowing for easy duplication.
